Fake it til you make it: the attitude and outfit for work in 2015 | Fashion | Lifestyle

success mark twain confidence quote

Don't fake it util you make it, fake it until you become it. That's the phrase that I plan to live 2015 by. I'm going to trick people into believing that I ooze with confidence until I really do ooze with confidence. I'm going to put the phrase to the test and see if you really can fake it until you make (or become) it.

2015 is the year that I take my first real step into the adult world. Where I wave goodbye to the retail store 0 hour contracts and welcome the true 9-5 adult job into my life with open arms. I'm beyond excited to take this step in life. Though the sound of working 9-5 really does not sound like the way to make a living (sorry Dolly...) the sound of getting out of the retail environment and into working as a Marketing assistant really does. I'm excited to step onto the ladder into what I hope will be a eye-opening opportunity in Marketing.

Here's the thing about new jobs that we all rarely admit...on the flipside of excitement, is the feeling of sheer gut-wrenching fear that overwhelms us. We have no idea what we are doing and that unnerves us. Whilst on the inside, I will be overcome with worry. On the outside, I will remain cool, collected and totally in control. I am going to fake it until I become it. I firmly believe that a little (or a lot) of self-belief can go a long way. After awhile, all that fear will fizzle out. Instead, it will be replaced by the 100% natural and real confidence that beams from you.

On my road to faking it until you make it, you can power dress to compliment you new found confident persona. After all, a confidence personality always needs a confident outfit to match.

For work attire right now, I am loving bonded midi skirts. They look so elegant and truly divine. Plus, they are pretty versatile and can be dressed down with a casual jersey top (I'm thinking stripes) or the professionalism can be reiterated with a pretty button-up shirt. During the colder months, you can layer it up with fleece-lined tights, chunky heels and a cardigan. You can also take this outfit from winter to spring by switching those chunky heels for court shoes and ditching the tights. You can find plenty of lovely bonded skirts on ASOS. I'm also loving this patterned one from River Island. This skirt would look amazing with some light pink accessories to really make the colours of the skirt pop. I adore Grafea bags. I really do think that their rucksacks take a stylish twist on the boring, average briefcase. A Grafea rucksack is most definitely on my 2015 wish list.

Of course, work attire wouldn't be complete without some essential office accessories. After all, if you're going to make it in this big bad world, you need to make sure that you're always prepared with some pretty stationery. So, I'll be sure to always keep my planner up to date and looking pretty.

In 2015, you can expect to see me chanting confidence-inspiring quotes to myself in the bathroom mirror every morning. I'm going to believe that anything is possible. I'm going to take every step I need to ensure that I fulfil my wishes to become both confident and successful.
Grandiose Days,

  3. Just stumbled across your blog, congratulations on your marketing job. That is a real accomplishment, and I bet you'll do fantastic! I can't wait until I leave the retail world and step into something I'm more passionate about, the retail world is not my cup of tea.

I agree with dressing confidently. Sometimes when I don't feel confident I take the extra step to dress better, because it really does help boost confidence when you feel you look nice. The skirt is my favorite, the pattern is too lovely.

Good luck with your job Tasmin! I'm sure 2015 will be great to you :)
