Trying to Steal Kylie Jenner's Lip Look with Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick | Beauty

I'll hold my hands up and admit that I haven't been graced with naturally plump lips and I'm still yet to master Kylie Jenner's cosmetic trickery. I mean her lips are out of this world. I've got to learn how to fake that full-lip look. As a result of my teeny-tiny lips, when it comes to applying my make-up in the morning I tend to focus on the eyes. Drawing the attention up towards those exaggerated puppy dog eyes.

But I just can't stop lusting after the beautiful, big lips look that has been filling up instagram lately. So with that, I've decided to pay a little more attention to my lipstick collection.

I couldn't resist purchasing the Maybelline colour drama lipsticks. Especially when I spotted the gorgeous nude shade Nude Perfection...and trust me the name really does describe it perfectly! Nude lips are big right now. I think nude lips are always a winner when you're wanting to wear lipstick but keep your look minimal yet chic. I really couldn't say no to this lip kohl. Especially when they only cost £4.99 each!

These lip kohls have a lovely creamy texture which creates a matte effect. A look that I personally much prefer over high-gloss any day. Other matte lipsticks that I have used tend to be overly-drying and can go flaky as the days goes on, so I love how smooth this lipstick is in comparison! Maybelline describe this lipstick as 'intense velvet' and I definitely agree that with it's amazing colours and the creamy matte texture that they have summed it up wonderfully in just two simple words.

I've also found that the lip kohl had great stayability and barely needed topping up throughout the day! Which is great for me, because I'm always on-the-go and rarely stop to look in a mirror to check my appearance or touch up my make-up. Though, if I do get chance to re-apply my lipstick then, with it's slim pencil design, this is the perfect size for throwing into your handbag last minute before you rush out of the front-door.

As well as getting the Nude Perfection shade, I treated myself to the 'Red Essential' shade. This is a lovely deep red colour. Perfect if you aren't in the mood to brave a bold red lip. I find this shade of red sultry and I'll definitely be reaching for this on my next night out! The colours are highly pigmented, which I kind of wasn't expecting for such a cheap price. So, I'm pleasantly surprised by that bonus factor.

The only downside that I have with these lipsticks is that if you suffer with dry or chapped lips then these can be quite drying. This is due to their creamy matte texture, which lacks moisture. But dab some lip balm on underneath and that should be more than enough to lock in some moisture.

Whilst in Boots, the Max Factor colour elixir lip liner also happened to fall into my hand. I found a shade that perfectly matched the nude Maybelline colour drama lipstick. This lip liner is really soft, so it's not drying like most pencil lip liners can be. It's an absolute dream to apply, gliding on smoothly. It's the perfect base for the Nude Perfect Maybelline Colour Drama lipstick. Again, this only cost £4.99. So it was yet another bargain for such a high quality lip product.

For the next few weekends, you can expect to find me playing dress up whilst I play with my newly purchased lip products and get mastering the Kylie Jenner lips. It'll be like reliving the days of being 6 years old and raiding my Mum's dressing table applying anything I can get my hands on. Expect, hopefully my lipstick applying skills have improved slightly since then haha!

With this new lipstick adventure underway, I'd love to hear your favourite lipstick products. So please, let me know what you go-to lipstick is!
