Surprise surprise, it’s another blog post about that mascara everyone is talking about right now. I bought ELLE Magazine the other day, which claimed to be a big ‘fashion edition’. I very rarely purchase fashion magazines. When buying magazines, I actually prefer to spend my pennies on a bodybuilding (sorry to all you cardio/diet lovers) or independent magazine. Plus when it comes to fashion and beauty, I’d rather see it from the eyes of people just like me, so I turn to fellow bloggers for inspiration or advice! But, for some unknown reason, I reached for ELLE magazine and popped it into my shopping basket the other day. Maybe, I was swayed by the free Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. Okay, I was definitely swayed by the free Benefit Roller Lash mascara.

This mascara takes its inspiration from hair rollers, as suggested by the name! The mascara brush has intricate detailing with lots of little hooks that grip onto your lashes for an easy yet dramatic application.

I normally try to steer clear of rubber mascara wands. Out of trial and error, I’ve always favoured the application of brush (or whatever technical term they’re called) wands. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Benefit Roller Lash mascara didn’t clump at all upon application.

In fact, the mascara left my lashes looking well defined and jet-black in colour. The length and curl of my lashes was also exaggerated, which makes this mascara amazing for a night out.

I usually wear MAC plush lash mascara and hands on heart admit that it’s my favourite mascara. It emphasises my lashes whilst remaining natural looking (and feeling). So, I have to admit that I wasn’t a fan of the thick formula of the Benefit Roller Lash. I found that it tugged on my lashes and was difficult to remove, which is a serious downside to the product. However, there’s no denying that it creates a dramatic effect, making it great for moments when really want to make your eyes pop.

As for ELLE… I certainly won’t be rushing to buy that magazine again. 105 pages in and I finally reached the first bit of copy, which was mediocre at best. The magazine was mainly made up of adverts and was far from what I’d call a ‘fashion issue’. Unless, they’re counting the adverts as being part of the content. I was seriously disappointed by it, but would like to thank it for the free Roller Lash mascara! So in the future, I think I’ll be sticking to the bodybuilding and independent magazines!

What’s your favourite magazine?
