The perfect girls night in ft. Prairie Charms | Lifestyle

A girls night in with my Mum has been long overdue. We're both always so busy, rushing around and getting jobs done from the moment we wake to the moment we go back to sleep. Sadly, that means we rarely make the time to have a real catch-up and spend some quality time together. So, this weekend was all about quality Mother-Daughter time. In my eyes, you can't beat a cosy night in with homemade cakes, snuggly blankets and movies. It's the perfect way to unwind and catch up with loved ones.

Prairie Charms recently contacted me about their wonderful collaboration with the Make A Wish Foundation, which focuses on the importance of giving back to community, sharing love and bringing people together. Make A Wish Foundation are a charity that arrange for heart-warming and magical experienced for children with life-threatening illnesses. If you want to find out more about the amazing things this charity does, then please go check out their site. As part of this collab, Prairie Charms promise to donate an enormous 25% from every order to the charity. This is a truly lovely gesture, and one that I simply couldn't refuse to participate in. The foundations of their collaboration reminded me that I really ought to set aside some time to just stop thinking, relax and spend time with my Mum. I know it's something I should do often anyway, but with my brain always in overdrive, time often passes by without me realising. I promise to make time to do absolutely nothing but surround myself with the people I love!

I placed my Prairie Charms order with a girly night in mind. Lilac is a lovely colour this season so I stuck with a lilac theme. I chose the lilac stripe treat bags. I'm always in the kitchen baking up a storm, so these will be the most adorable packaging for taking my sweet treats on the go and sharing them with friends. I also popped the Lilac polka dot paper straws on my order. I love my drinking jars and always use them when I'm at home. So, I couldn't say no to these adorable patterned straws. They make even tap water look pretty! And of course, these will look even lovelier when making homemade lemonade, milkshakes or punch (or cocktails if you drink!) in the summer time. As well as these foodie treats, I treated myself to a lilac floral crown. If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I cut my hair off for charity. So, with a short bob that I can't do much with, hairbands are going to be my go-to accessory for spicing up my hairstyle in the Spring time! Prairie charms offer an amazing selection of floral crowns (this one is my absolute favourite from their selection and is definitely on my wish list!). With my order, they also threw in an extra two gifts, which were some lovely hair ties (which I will be wearing as bracelets!) and a bright blue glitter hair clip.

For our girls night in, I decided to do a spot of baking. Now, my idea of baking often falls on the healthy-side. But, for the first time in what feels like forever, I decided to allow myself the cheat of doing some 'lazy' baking using a pre-bought cake mix. With Spring finally being here, I'm besotted by pastel coloured everything, as I mentioned in my pretty in pastel post. So naturally it would have been rude to not make pastel coloured rainbow cakes. I took inspiration for this from Claire at Fine and Dandy, so go and give her credit for such magical looking cakes. The cakes were popped in the adorable lilac treat bags from Prairie Charms. These treat bags were perfect for munching on cakes throughout the film, without the fear of them being stolen by the dog (honestly, if it's on a plate he'll try his chances at stealing it!). Plus, they make movie-night snacks look so cute and your loved ones will be giving you a 10/10 for presentation and hostess skills!

With cakes made and PJs on, my Mother and I decided to settle down for our girly night in. Wanting to remain somewhat healthy, I stuck to a lemon infused water whilst my Mum opted for a homemade cocktail. Drinks were served in drinking jars paired with the sweet lilac polka dot straws. I can see these straws being a firm favourite for Spring. I'd like to say we stuck on a soppy, heartstrings-tugging love film, as that would have been the ultimate movie genre for a girls night in. But instead, we opted for a Horror. After all, there's nothing like a few jumpy horror scenes to get you giggling on a girls night in!

So, sipping on our drinks and reaching into the sweet bags for cake, we kicked back and enjoyed a long overdue girls night in. It was such a lovely night in. It reminded me how important it is to make time for loved ones, relax and share some laughter! Once a week, I'll be putting my work aside and making the time for a wonderful girly night in.

  1. It seems like you had a really lovely night with your mum! I feel like I might have to do something similar with mine once I head back home in June. I love the lilac theme as well! A great colour choice. But then again if it's a purple hue I'm going to like it :D Wish I could watch horror films but if I did I don't think I'd be sleeping for the next few nights afterwards! I hope you're able to have more nights like this and catching up with your mum :)

    1. Thanks, Lauren! It really was, and it's something that we don't get to do often. Oh that'll be lovely, you and your mum will have lots of catching up to do after all your adventures :)! I know what you mean, horror films aren't everyones cup of tea. I personally love them but I always struggle to find friends to watch them with, so it was actually refreshing to replace the chick flick with a horror!
