The City Look
For an outfit fit for exploring the concrete jungle, pair this crochet detailed denim dress* with a bold coral duster jacket* and some chunky heel sandals*. I adore the crochet layered detailing on this dress. It definitely adds a special touch to what would otherwise be just another denim dress. The way it cinches in at the waist creates such a feminine look. I also really love duster jackets. They create the perfect balance between smart and casual. By throwing on this coral duster jacket, it's made a summer day dress look classy. I'm forever teaming long duster jackets with day-dresses for a instant chic style at work. This outfit is one that I'd definitely feel comfortable wearing to the office during those hot summer days. Yet at the same time, I could 100% see myself wearing this on a city break. Hello New York? Gosh, now I really need to book a trip to New York just so I can wear this pretty little number as I explore the Big Apple. Coral is always one of my go-to colours for summer. I feel the pop of coral perfectly compliments the denim.
The Festival Look
Festival season is upon us. It's that time of year where everyone is getting hyped up over the idea of spending their summer being completely carefree at music festivals. If you're planning on going to a UK festival this year then chances are it will probably rain (sorry!). So, you may as well be prepared with a cute rain-mac. My denim dress is lovely and lightweight, making it ideal for looking cute whilst dancing around at a muddy, sweaty festival or getting lost exploring the woods to find that secret gig. This lemon print rain mac* is adorable too. You can never go wrong with zesty fruit prints for summer. It's such a fun pattern and everyone knows that festivals are all about letting your hair down and having some fun! If you can keep away from the mud, swap your wellies for a cute pair of white broderie anglaise pumps*. Though, unless you're festival-ing abroad, I don't think they'll stay white for very long!
Finally, you can create a casual summers day outfit in an instant. All you need to do is add a kimono*. This look would be perfect for a casual day out with friends to the park or a bbq on the beach! Or in my case, a dog-walk on a hot day! Kimono's are my favourite for summer time. They're the perfect beach cover up. Plus, my hometown is windy 90% of the time. So a light kimono allows me to enjoy the sunshine without feeling too cold from that dreaded seaside breeze! This kimono has such sweet diamante detailing. It makes me feel instantly summery, just looking at it. I also adore these chunky heels. The nude colour means they'll match almost any outfit (perfect for that capsule wardrobe!). I also love the cross over strap, yet another simple yet delightful touch. All teamed up with this crochet denim dress, I feel like I've magically transformed into the ever so sweet girl-next-door.
With just 3 jacket changes and a quick switching of shoes, it truly is possible to create 3 distinct outfits for summer! Your wardrobe, mirror and your purse will be thanking you for this one. This fun challenge has proven to me how easy it is to mix-up one hero item to create several amazing looks. From now on, I'll definitely be viewing my wardrobe with fresh eyes. There's a whole world of opportunities out there for all those clothes I own and with my new found love for styling up my wardrobe, I'm more determined than ever to create a capsule wardrobe! What are your top tips for creating a capsule wardrobe? I'd love to know!
