'tis the season to wear festive knits | Fashion

Christmas jumper season is officially here! It's time for Christmas jumpers, festive coffee and good company. Honestly, I'm so excited for a season filled with being all snuggly wrapped up in layers. The xmas knitwear doesn't have to be covered in bells and flashing lights (y'know, unless that's your thing...). Nope, this year it's all about keeping the christmas jumper classy - perfect for everyday wear and not just for Ugly xmas jumper day in the office.

Last weekend I made the obligatory annual trip to the Manchester Christmas markets. I imagine it won't be my last trip to the christmas markets this year, either! A christmas market isn't complete without some festive knitwear. So, to keep the festive spirit high, I pulled on my Fairisle jumper from Fat Face with pride. I was super giddy to go and sip mulled wine with the girls, all dressed in our xmas jumpers, embracing the festivities.

It was a rainy, blustery day at the markets but we didn't let that dampen our christmas spirit. We simply kept cozy by pairing our festive xmas jumpers with winter woolies, layers and never-ending hot drinks to keep our hands toasty (of course!).

This year, your festive knits don't have to be gharishly bold and in your face. Instead, you can keep things minimal and classy with fairisle patterns and traditional colours. When I first saw this jumper, I just knew I had to have it. It ticked all the right boxes- grey, simple and super soft. Grey is a colour that I'll never grow tired of and it's especially perfect for these chilly months! It's probably the one time of year where my wardrobe of black, grey and white becomes acceptable. It's also the time of year when I can be found drowning in knitwear- festive knits, oversized sweaters, chunky knit socks, bobble hats...if it's knitted, I probably want it.

For the daytime, you simply cannot go wrong with pairing your xmas jumper with some vintage skinny jeggings and some trusty ankle boots. For my little outing, I paired my fairisle jumper with these super-soft skinnies for the ultimate comfort all day long. To keep my tootsies warm and happy on a rainy day out, I opted for chunky knit socks and ankle boots. The perfect outfit for a day spent sipping coffee and exchanging christmas memories with friends.

You can switch things up and take the xmas jumper from daytime to evening-wear by swapping jeans for leggings and replacing those ankle boots with some over-knee boots - perfect! I know I'll be wearing my festive knits at any given opportunity. So, why not show your festive knits some love and dress them up for the day time or even for a few evening mulled wines with the girls?

Please excuse the mismatch of indoor-shot outfit photos and excitedly-snapped iPhone photos. Instead of battling against wind, rain, poor lighting and merry market-goers squeezing past to re-fill their mulled wine mugs, I realised it would be a lot wiser to snap my outfit photos indoors. Which results in this half candid/half planned photo-filled post, oops. In my opinion, it simply means I'll have to go back to the markets on a less rainy day to get photos...and obviously more mulled wine!

If you fancy adding to your christmas jumper collection, then I definitely recommend you check out Fat Face's range of super sweet festive knits.

When will you be wearing your festive knits?

I really like the classy jumper style, not too in your face like most Christmas jumpers, and it's super pretty too!
